Chow Hon Lam is the artist behind Buddy Gator Comics who lives in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is a great storyteller and an illustrator who tells the story by drawing beautiful comics.
He’s also a successful designer and received an award for designing t-shirts. He has also written many books. His first book is for children and is titled ” The Bold, Brave Bunny ”.
He is a self-taught, amateur artist who has a great passion for storytelling. He started a project called Flying Mouse 365 in 2010. For this project, he publishes one drawing per day for a year.
It is quite challenging and difficult for him to daily draw one illustration in 24 hours for an entire year. But this is also beneficial for him in a way that it enhances his creativity and skills.
He also worked with many prominent customers all over the world including LINE, NIKE, MARTELL VSOP, Google Tenor, and Dave Matthews Band. He created his first comics in 2018 and is named ”Tu and Ted”.
These comics depict the daily life of two friends, a bunny and a polar bear in a hilarious way. This book was later published by 2 publishers. He started creating buddy gator comics after the outburst of comics.
COVID was the most difficult and challenging period for people all over the world. It caused havoc around the world. Many people lost their loved ones. Anxiety and depression were spreading rapidly. After seeing the situation, he decided to relieve people’s stress and bring smiles to people’s faces by creating these lovely and wholesome comics.
The main character of Buddy Gator Comics is an alligator. There are also many other characters such as Nancy, an elephant, a shark named Koji, and a whale called Andrew. These all are the friends of an alligator.
When Chow Hon Lam was asked why he chose an alligator as the main character? He replied that a big mouth, sharp teeth, and long tail made the alligator scary. I wanted to show that they can be sweet and warm. So, I chose alligator.
He has gained a massive fan following on different social media platforms because of his excellent message-conveying comics. He has earned more than 1M followers on Instagram. His comics bring smiles to the faces of people and help them a lot in facing the challenges of life.
