Debut And End of Cathy Comics :
The comic strips made their first debut in 1976 before most of the comics were written either for boys, adults, or children. It is the first comic that introduced women and influenced later artists to create comics about women. The comic introduces the character of Cathy, a single woman who navigates the ups and downs of living a modern life and deals with everything from relationships and career aspirations to body image to self-doubt and offers a hilarious yet poignant glimpse into the lives of every modern woman.
At first, cathy was published in 66 newspapers when it debuted in 1976 but in the mid 90’s, it became successful in capturing a massive audience and became the most popular comic strip, appearing in nearly 1400 newspapers. The strips were continuously published till 2010 after which Guisewite announced the end of cathy publication. On 3 October 2010, the last comic strip was featured and is about cathy pregnant with a baby girl.
